Hot Air Balloon Festival

Hi everyone!
I haven't written a down-o-earth "me" post in a while. i realized that I actually don't even have a section this blog for it because I always use it more on an on and off basis depending on school. I've been good about it for the past month though!

So... I am in my last semester of college currently and I have about 1.5 months left til graduation. It's a little (well a lot) scarier... thinking about what I'll do next because of the way things pace along so quickly. I feel like I have no time to commit to myself and so this weekend, I decide I should try to do something different and fun. There was a family friendly hot air balloon festival taking place not too far from my house so I got to check it out with my boyfriend.

It took place in this huge developing neighborhood where there's this beautiful lake and scenery. It looked like a peaceful park or bbq/picnic location. The weather was nice so walking around watching cute dogs and families everywhere was fun. They had pumpkin carving, hay rides, live music, and of course... overpriced hotdogs.

Now... the biggest highlight would have been the air balloons... BUT!

As you can see in this picture, they stayed on the ground. I was SO disappointed. It had gotten pretty chilly by nightfall and my boyfriend was only wearing a thermal so we were going to leave early. Then, they started blowing up the rest of the balloons, bringing my hopes up... and they did all this to leave them grounded. So sad!

There were glaring lights nearby and no good place to take pictures of them... this is probably the best one I have. Pretty aren't they? I should print a photo of them and cut them into a picture I have of the sky... Actually, that's not a bad idea. I should try it... haha.

Anyway... although our hopes were let down, this event was still a nice break from the books. Too bad I must swiftly return to studying. Does it ever end?! Probably not. Psych majors need to go to grad school to make it anywhere really... :\ Oh well. Good thing I actually like learning... just not waking up early and dealing with traffic. Oh the pressure!

Hope everyone is doing well and trying to seek some novelty like me! You deserve it!!

Cheers,
Dana

  1. OH my gosh! I would have been so sad too :/ Well at least you were able to spend some quality time with your boyfriend. That lake looks really nice (even though it would have looked cooler from the sky) lol. Maybe next time they'll go up in the air?

  2. I know right?! Ugh. Must find bigger and better hot air balloon festivals. It's been on my bucket list for years... what a bummer!

  3. I've never been to a hot air balloon festival, but I bet it would be fun. What a bummer that the balloons were grounded! =( So disappointing, but at least you got to see them all lit up in the night. (Very good idea about putting one into the sky yourself, by the way.) Overall, though, it still sounds like you had a good time. So that's good. It's always nice to get out once in awhile!
You're almost to graduation (and it comes quicker than you can imagine), so back to the books for now for you!
