Taking Fish Oil Pills Alters Your Weight?

Hey guys!

I thought I'd share some facts I came across while researching how fish oil pills affect your body.
I've never taken them sporadically in the past before but I started regularly taking them mainly because I lack a lot of nutrition since I'm a vegan who eats some kinds of meat. Haha.

Omega 3 Fish Oil Pills Side Effects

Anyway... I started taking one a day with a meal and plenty of water... it's been about 2 weeks and I noticed some weight gain but I haven't altered much of anything I am eating or doing. I thought it was weird (and it had to be muscle) so I read up on it.

I've been doing some light weights here and there and stretching... and noticed that my arms were building muscle somewhat too noticeably. I do triceps a lot because I hate flab under my arms and now it's pretty hard compared to past workout results.

So I looked it up and fish oil helps build muscle! :) Now it makes sense why weight gain supplements for guys working out have fish oil pills...

Fish oil and also very good for depression, anxiety, and even bipolar conditions. I never knew that!! (I have high anxiety at times).  But... some supplements can also do the inverse as well.

Some side effects include: (from: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/993.html)

Fish oil can cause side effects including belching, bad breath, heartburn, nausea, loose stools, rash, and nosebleeds. Taking fish oil supplements with meals or freezing them can often decrease these side effects. I've had itchy skin lately and that's apparently a common aide effect. They say if you stick your pills in the freezer or fridge, it reduces this problem!

Taking fish oil supplements in larger amounts can increase levels of the “bad” LDL cholesterol in some people. You will need blood tests periodically to ensure LDL cholesterols do not become too high.

Does Taking Fish Oil Pills Make You Gain Weight?According to LS, Omega-3s are all the rage because they are heart healthy, promote brain health, reduce inflammation, lower your risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer and help manage conditions like type 2 diabetes and problems with blood lipids.

It also enhances fat burning, decreases abdominal obesity, and helps with satiety.

Although I mainly take it for my heart and skin, I'm pleasantly surprised at all of these benefits that fish oils provide. Just make sure you don't take too much and you should be good to go. :)

Cheers,
Dana
