Hi everyone! Welcome to March Giveaway Madness!Khaki generously sent me a raw shea butter balm ($10) of my choice to review.
Hi! Khaki’s Bomb Balm is an all natural skin care line that utilizes raw African Shea Butter as the base to most products. I use only high quality essential oils and organic ingredients to create healthy and truly effective skin care for everyone. Handmade by me, an Esthetician, mommy, wife and beach lover.
We haven't had a skincare sponsor in a while so I am very very happy and pleased to introduce Khaki's Bomb Balm-- our newest super sponsor.
Here's a message from Khaki:
There were a range of scents, flavors, kinds... whatever you'd like to call them. :) And honestly... they all sounded amazing so I decided to go with the vanilla/orange raw shea butter balm. Khaki is so sweet and we picked the review product together. She even told me the best ways to use my product when I asked for help. She's great!
Before I start my review, here is the packaging I received. My shea butter balm came in a nice bubble wrap envelope. Inside, I found my balm wrapped in adorable packaging and a little note to me as a sponsor. :) The packaging added a really nice touch and I could easily see myself gifting Khaki's Bomb Balm to anyone. We all need skin care!
Moving on, my balm came in a nice tin container that actually has a screw on cap. I thought that was cool since I'm so used to just a lid that pops off (I spent some unnecessary time figuring out that it was a screw off--hehe silly me). The screw on cap will come in handy for when you store the balm for travel or in a bag of some sort. Even if it rustles around, the contents of your butter balm should be safe as long as it stays in cool temperature.
Here's a closer look of the balm and what it looks like when you scrape some off. It looks kind of gritty but once you take some and lather it with your fingers, it smooths out like thick but smooth butter.
I continued to use this balm as a facial mask throughout the past week.
Once you rub some of the balm between your palms or fingers, it will get all buttery and rich. After you are done applying it, your whole face will be covered and shiny! After that, you want to wait at least 20 minutes for the shea butter balm to slowly get absorbed. Your face will have a nice coat of moisture from the shea butter to it so don't be alarmed.
I turned on The Walking Dead before while I waited. Haha! After 20-30 minutes have passed, gently rinse off your face and pat it dry. You can use your normal moisturizer after as well! My face felt super soft...I really didn't feel like I needed moisturizer after! My skin felt fresh and reinvigorated... and soft like a baby's bum! :D I just wanted to do this all the time after that because I don't recall the last time my face felt so soft after a skin product. You go Khaki's Bomb Balm!!
P.S. The great thing is that you can do this for any part of your body!
My dad is a contractor and he came home recently with pretty chaffed hands (which is pretty common). We used this on his hands right before he went to sleep so that the butter balm could just soak in over night. I think it works wonders. I can't wait to use it for my shoulders as a massage butter balm.
1) treat dry skin, eczema and minor burns (This is definitely my category!)
2) extra sun protection due to high contents of vitamin E and F
3) treats dark spots, stretch marks and wrinkles (Yes please!)
4) great for massages, diaper rash 5) a night time treatment mask/moisturizer (Oh yeah baby)
You’re going to love it : ) (You were right Khaki, I did!)
Depending on your scent preferences, you may use balms as solid perfum. I personally loved the scent. When it's completely dry on your skin, you are left with a lingering vanilla scent with a tint of orange. It's not a strong citric smell at all-- I smell vanilla and orange together is very calming. If you need help picking a scent, Khaki would be more than helpful!
I'm moving on to some of my fave products. I just love the little flowers and plants on top of each product. It adds a little natural element of color and joy to every Khaki's Bomb Balm you open!
1. How did this all start?
Khaki: I started making Raw Shea Butter Balm for myself and my 10 month old daughter for our cheeks. We live on the Beach here in Massachusetts and walk it all year long. The New England cold and wind was taking its toll on my poor daughters cheeks. I had worked with Raw Shea Butter in a Spa setting in Seattle Washington in the years past and had fallen in love back then. I started blending and adding essential oils, incorporating other all natural skin care ingredients I love and one thing just led to another!
2. What is your favorite product to design/make?
I would say my favorite thing is to experiment with essential oil blends. Essential oils have such super powers. : ) I love finding a blends that smell just devine. I also really enjoy making my Whipped Anti-Aging Face Cream simply because of the love I have for its ingredients. Raw Shea Butter, Organic unrefined coconut oil, rosehip and grapeseed oils and Lavender essential oil. Incredible.
3. Anything special you want to share about your work/products?
If you aren’t sure you know much about raw Shea Butter, I’d love to tell you why its so wonderful and dear to me. Raw African Shea Butter comes from the Shea Nut Trees in Ghana. It contains a high amount of fatty acids and has a higher nonsaponifiable fraction making it superior and more healing than cocoa butter and other oils and butters. Shea butter is used to keep skin healthy, young, softer, protected from wind, cold and sun and helps heal wounds. It is also non comedogenic so it will not clog your pores! The Shea Nut Trees are also calledkarite trees, which means The Tree of Life.
