Workouts and Healthy Food

Hey cutiepies!

It's been a while since I talked about skin care and health .. which means I haven't been on top of it!
As some of you know, I've been fighting off costochondritis that I get on and off now from some heart-related issues I had last year. It's good to stay on top of your stress and energy level by working out and eating well regularly.

By eating well, I don't even mean "all the good stuff" necessarily... I mean eating regularly and on a timely manner because I tend to put off eating or "forget" to eat when I'm busy working on something. It's bad because I basically ignore the hunger to finish something and make my schedule easier for me.. when it's not good for my body. So... tsk tsk. 

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to start sharing healthy tips and things that I come across.

Here is a 10 minute cardio workout that I found on youtube that is brand new to me. They say getting in 15 minutes of faster breathing a day can be a great minimum for busy schedules. And we all know that no matter how busy we are... we do have time to fit in exercise.. we just choose not to.

So what do I like to do for exercise?

Well.. it's winter and that means.. lethargy and cuddle-under-blankets with your favorite tv shows and comfy pjs.. and well.. that idea can run on and run really. The main thing that I'm getting at is how much harder it is to stay in shape during the winter. You'll find any excuse to stay put and not sweat because.. you're going to have to either hit the gym or make one at home if it's too cold out.

It's also easier to have the munchies and just want to store energy in the form of fat. I feel like as progressive as the human race is.. we want to hibernate like animals in the winter as well. Haha.
Here's a fun list of healthy snacks to keep around the house. Mine are currently roasted almonds and dark chocolate covered strawberries. Oh and clementines...we need that vitamin C!

So what am I doing now for exercise? I like anything cardio based over just sets of exercises. I like more rhythmic dance/aerobic activities that give you a good stretch but also a clean, lean feeling afterwards! I play everything from wii zumba and just dance to just aerobic workout DVDs. :) These are easily accessible during any weather... and gives me a little variety to work with depending on my mood.

If I'm in the mood for something more chill and I had a long day, I opt out of stretching or yoga with some 5 lb weights. I'm SO ready for the summer.. I miss swimming so much!

It's funny because I used to be a runner lover but I find it more boring now. Also, my heart doesn't seem to like it anymore so sustaining that breathing for me is a no no until I know I'm completely healed.
