I am so excited to introduce this review and giveaway with It's the Balm.
I reviewed a few goodies in stock and I'll tell you all about them. :)
I so had a mini interview with Nicole so you'll get to know more about her as well.
Here is what my package looked like inside.
I actually ordered bath bombs separately from the review so Nicole from It's the Balm sent it all together. I thought it was really neat that I got cute flyers and and a transaction receipt.
The simple organza bag and cello sleeves are great packaging for holiday gifting. You will smell all the amazing scents before you even open the containers!!
Let's start off with the Pumpkin Spice Body Scrub. I tried out the Citrus Body Scrub last time and absolutely loved it. This baby was no different. You can purchase this scrub in different sizes and it starts at $7. The container is a great size and stays screwed on nicely. Here's what it looks like!
I realize that Pumpkin Spice is often associated to Thanksgiving but it's really a great winter scent.
I say this because it's warm and buttery, which easily transitions into this cold season. I love using this scrub on my legs and back-- especially during the winter because I get dry and itchy. This scrub has coarse sugar that is so great for exfoliating but also amazing for moisturizing. When you use it and the sugar melts, you are left with a rich buttery feeling on your skin after you get out of the shower. I love feeling silky soft so this is an excellent and inexpensive gift for anyone! You can find it in different scents like coffee and lavender as well!
Your product labels and presentation are awesome-- do you design them?
Nicole: Thanks so much for the compliment Dana! Yes, I actually design each label myself. I never realized how creative I was until I started "It's the Balm". Developing each product with distinctive ingredients and design is my form of artistic expression. This product line is a reflection of me, from the inside out.
Next, I will give my bath bombs a shout out since I bought them and used them as well. :)
It's the Balm has fantastic customer service. Some of my bath bombs arrived crushed in the mail and Nicole didn't hesitate to apologize and send me new ones (which really wasn't necessary). These bath bombs are all the same size and come in a set of 4 for $12. I gifted some to friends for the holidays to enjoy a nice bath and they all loved them! Again, It's the Balm offers a variety of scents from herbal, tropical, and lavender. They're all natural and when you release one in the bath, the herbs will spread in the water and smell like heaven.
The whole bathroom smelled like a herbal spa. It was so soothing and relaxing. No bubbles but I loved it. You will have to rinse out your bath tub after because some of the herbs will stick to the walls of the tub. But obviously, it's worth it!! The bath bombs also have some natural oils in it so your bath water will also make you feel smooth and silky. :)
Where do you draw inspiration from for new products?
Nicole: I love getting feedback from friends, family and customers. People will often request something specific and it really gets my creative juices flowing. Sometimes I simply have a inspirational idea, there many be a product I'd like to have for personal use or a scent in nature that catches my attention. These things encourage me to get creative. I love learning about the unique properties of essential oil and natural ingredients to create innovative products that are both indulgent and beneficial. I'm always thinking of what to do next!
Moving onto my favorite review item set, this Natural Facial Regimen ($18+).Oats and Aloe Cleansing Facial Scrub that I wanted to try out. Again, you can buy a bigger set at up to 8 oz. Here's how I liked it:
1. First you start off with this Oats and Aloe Cleansing Facial Scrub that's made of oats, organic aloe juice, and witch hazel. You shake the bottle and you'll find a golden honey colored liquid in your palm with oats in it. It will lather and get a little foamy. It feels gentle but it does have refreshing tingling sensation to it.
2. The Witch Hazel Toner is next and a great follow up to the cleanser. I love the scent of Witch Hazel because it's light but fragrant. It's blended with essential oils and I was surprised because it's not in a spray bottle but flows out safely out of a normal cap.
3. I CANNOT express how much I love this last liquid moisturizer which is a blend of organic aloe juice, witch hazel, rosehip oil, tea tree oil and lavender essential oil. The mixture of the lavender, rosehip, and witch hazel is to die for. The mist that hits your skin through the spray will instantly trigger your olfactory senses. I love the misty feeling of it against my skin and the wonderful fragrance that this liquid moisturizer offers.
Overall, this facial regimen is really working for my mixed skin type. I noticed that the pores around my nose and cheeks are getting smaller. It's also exfoliating all the debris caught in my pores upwards to the surface of my skin. I was surprised because this set isn't a strong exfoliating set (as in it's not gritty or beaded) but the natural elements to this set are anti-inflammatory and anti-aging. I haven't had any new breakouts and this regimen is keeping the oily aspect of my skin in check. It would be such a great gift for any age group, male or female. It's easy to use and packaged beautifully as you can see below:
Color: My favorite color is pink. I'm definitely a girly girl.
TV Show: My favorite TV show is The Vikings on The History Channel. It's such a great dramatic series. If you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely tune in this season!
Last but definitely not least, I tested out the aromatherapy sprays Focus and Serenity ($9).
It's the Balm has a natural knack at designing simple, alluring, yet fragrant scents. These aromatherapy sprays are my new favorite for my bedroom. I sprayed my computer chair and bed with Serenity and I could smell the scent of lavender in my room ALL DAY. It lasted for so long and it just takes you to a different place that's calming and wonderful. Serenity has a more citrus kick to it that has hints of grapefruit and orange when you spray it. Serenity is lavender based but floral-- not in a tacky way-- but in a sophisticated way.
Overall, I only have good things to say about It's the Balm. I love their work, affordable pricing, and the customer service. The packaging is beautiful, personalized, and full of win. Look at the labels and effort Nicole goes through to list ingredients, directions, and even the overall design. The exterior matches the interior contents of these products perfectly and I can't wait to see future products from It's the Balm. Plus, as a poor student, I can still afford a lot of their products and gift them to all my loved ones! If you want a natural and healthy change to your skincare products, give It's the Balm a try. You'll agree that it really is the bomb.
What is your favorite fragrance to work with?
Nicole: I would have to say Lavender is my favorite essential oil. It's such a sweet, delicate scent and it always relaxes me while making products. I was never a lavender fan before I started this business, but the benefits have become obvious to me since incorporating it into my product line. I also love citrus essential oils, they're so bright and fresh. Not to mention, they always make me feel centered and focused. There are too many wonderful scents to choose only one! ;) It mostly depends on my mood and which essential oil my mind is craving at the time.
Thanks Nicole from It's the Balm for sponsoring! I hope you guys enjoyed my review and here is your chance to win some bath and body love! One lucky international winner will win the following:
