Japan Day 2: Studio Ghibli and Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Oh Studio Ghibli... how inspiring you are!

We had to book tickets for Studio Ghibli a good month in advance and let me tell you... it was worth it! The tickets were only 1000 yen and the museum was beautiful inside and out. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to take pictures inside but here is the outside!

I ran around like a weird tourist picking up leaves and taking pictures of them...

This iron giant was on the rooftop. The stairwells leading up to it were lovely.

This museum is really special... not just because of all the totoros everywhere but also because of the design. After the museum tour, I felt that I got to see the inside of Miyazaki's brain-- how he researched, traveled, and created his beautiful artwork. I didn't realize how much research went into his work and I admire his art even more than I did before!

The leaves were such a beautiful color... all the reds and yellow were lovely to look at during our walk around here! Goodbye Studio Ghibli!

After Studio Ghibli, we went to the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden to see more lovely colors. It was 200 yen to get in. The park is very big... and I can't imagine how beautiful it must be during the cherry blossom time in spring.

We found a cute little tea place and took lots of pretty pictures of the cups before drinking it!

I hope that I can visit Japan someday during the spring to see the cherry blossoms. Until then... I had a great dose of autumn while I was there. :)
